Personal profile

Biography

I obtained a PhD with Distinction in Computer Engineering from The University of Western Australia in 2011. I have developed efficient algorithms for human recognition from 2D and 3D ear and face images and currently applying them addressing critical maritime surveillance and dental challenges. I have a total of 28 published scholarly articles that attracted 155 citations (h-index: Google-7, ISI/Scopus-4) and five public media releases. Currently I am working in Curtin School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering and UWA School of Dentistry leading a number of multi-disciplinary research projects in the area of Computer Vision and Image-guided Orthodontic and Maxillofacial Surgery respectively. I have secured four locally and two nationally competitive research grants. I also served as Associate Editor of five journals, Technical Committee Member for 14 conferences, Reviewer of 14 journals and 19 conferences, and Member of seven professional bodies.

Roles and responsibilities

I am a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Dentistry, The University of Western Australia (UWA). I am working under Assoc. Prof. Mithran Goonewardene in a project for facial asymmetry analysis using 3D Computer Graphics.

My expertise encompasses the research fields of Computer Vision with 2D and 3D still and video Image Processing, Computer Graphics, Computer and Communication Networking and Robotics.

Future research

I am interested to pursue my research towards applying various Computer Vision and Image Processing techniques in the area of health and agriculture.
