Personal profile


Dr Steph Chen is a Research Associate in the School of Psychological Science at the University of Western Australia. She works within the Human Factors and Applied Cognition laboratory conducting theory-driven experiments to understand the human cognition underlying performance. Steph gained an interest in human performance and decision-making in command and control environments whilst serving in the Royal Australian Navy, and subsequently completed a PhD on optimising the balance between task automation and human manual control in a maritime context. Her research interests also include Human Systems Integration and modelling team performance in complex collaborative systems.  Steph is currently working with Defence Science and Technology Group to help explore and shape emerging technology to support decision superiority in maritime command and control settings.
