Biography

Dr. Siwen Luo is a Lecturer in Computer Science at The University of Western Australia. She received her PhD in Computer Science from The University of Sydney in 2023. Dr. Luo’s research explores Natural Language Processing, Vision-and-Language Integration and Learning, and Explainable Artificial Intelligence. She has contributed to areas such as Visual Question Answering, Visually-rich Document Understanding, and Multimodal Large Language Models. Her work aims to improve the explainability, robustness, and scientific applicability of AI systems across diverse disciplines. At UWA, Dr. Luo teaches courses in Natural Language Processing. She is passionate about developing AI technologies that are both innovative and responsible, and enjoys mentoring students and collaborating across fields.
