Biography

With over 20 years of experience as an educator, my journey began shortly after I discovered a passion for teaching and training at the time in the corporate workplace. I decided to complete the TAE - Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment as the minimum requirement for teaching in Vocational Education and Training VET. I spent several years teaching at TAFE, VET Colleges and consulting for Government and Private organisations on systems design, processes, IT software user end and office administrative functions.

My love for literature and the liberal arts directed me to completing a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English, Text and Writing with a sub-major in Social and Cultural Analysis.  My intention at the time was to progress into teaching English in secondary schools. Shortly after, I completed the Master of Education (Secondary Education and Teaching). This redirected my experience as an educator to the secondary classrooms in Sydney schools which I thoroughly enjoyed for 3 years.  During this time I did some casual work for Western Sydney University (WSU) - The College where I was part of a team of Academics designing content and teaching Academic English, whilst also supporting and assisting students on a pathway journey to their desired degree.

During 2017, I was offered a role as an Academic English Teacher/Student Pathways Advisor at WSU - The College where I spent the next 7 years teaching, advising, and completing additional qualifications in education.  Some of which include a Graduate Certificate in TESOL and a BA Education with High Distinction First Class Honours.

I am now a researcher enjoying the journey as a PhD candidate.  I still like to remain involved in the classroom and engage with students where and when I can during my research. I currently work for Curtin University as a casual academic and Department of Education.
