Biography

Professor Silvana Gaudieri is the head of a research group examining host-viral interactions and has >20 years of experience in examining viruses and the host’s immune response to these pathogens including seminal studies demonstrating the adaptation of viruses (such as Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and HIV) to immune responses at a population level. She has been involved in innovating novel and high-throughput approaches for epitope discovery and immunophenotyping of T cell responses. This work has been funded by both international and national funding bodies and has resulted in >100 publications.

Silvana is also involved in teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level into the areas of genetics, immunology and biological anthropology. She has a strong teaching-research nexus and has also supervised to completion over 30 Honours, Masters and PhD students.
