Shiaohuey Chow is an experimentalist in geotechnical engineering. Her research provides solutions in offshore geotechnical engineering relevant to both the oil and gas and the renewable energy industries through physical modelling technique. Her expertise includes offshore geotechnical site investigation using free-fall penetrometers, anchoring solution in sand and strain rate effects in soil. Her most recent research focuses on partially drained to undrained behaviour in sand. Her works have received several international best paper awards in the last 5 years.
Shiaohuey obtained her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2013, and her MEng degree in geotechnical engineering from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2003. She has worked as a structural design engineer and lecturer in civil engineering in Malaysia prior to her PhD.
