Biography

Podiatrist Dr Sarah Carter is a lecturer in all three years of the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Program at The University of Western Australia. Dr Carter was part of the inaugural group of students to complete their Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine at UWA in 2009. A few years later, Dr Carter moved to Scotland where she completed a Master of Science in Motion Analysis with a thesis titled ‘Analysis of the kinetic and kinematic data in lower limbs during highland dancing’.

Dr Carter completed a joint PhD in 2018 between UWA’s Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Division and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowan University, entitled ‘Lower leg and foot contributions to turnout in pre-professional female dancers: A clinical and kinematic analysis’.

Dr Carter regularly presents at conferences, including the 2019 and 2017 Australasian Podiatry Conference, the 2016 International Association for Dance Medicine and Science Conference in Hong Kong, the 2017 event of the same conference in Houston, United States, and 2018 event in Helsinki in October.
