Samuel Beilby is an artist, arts worker and (occasionally) a musician based in Boorloo (Perth) on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar. He is interested in processes of extraction, noise, labour and paranoia. His practice often combines historical/theoretical research with audio-visual and new-media tools, amplification and diagramatics to explore frictions and underlying turbulence between industrial, ecological and social systems.
He currently occupies a board member role at Cool Change Contemporary, is Gallery Associate at Sweet Pea Arts, a sessional teacher at the University of Western Australia’s School of Design’ Fine Art Department and is a PhD candidate at the same university with a research focus on post-covid noise art.
Samuel has participated in exhibitions, residencies, artist talks, academic conferences and performances in Taiwan, Japan, France, Singapore, Greece and Australia. His writing has appeared in conference proceedings, journals and arts criticism platforms such xCoAx (2021), Dispatch Review (2023 and 2024), The International Symposium of Electronic Arts (2024), , Leonardo (2024) and un Magazine (2025, upcoming) . He is also a part of the Boorloo-based experimental performance art collective mg.
