Biography

Ruolian Fang is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Management and Organisation group at the UWA Business School. Her research addresses the dynamic interplay between individuals and social networks as determinants of employee work experiences and performance outcomes. In her primary stream of research, she studies individual agency in network positioning and structuring, for instance, how organizational members come to occupy advantageous network positions, which in turn facilitate them to perform well and achieve career success. She also studies individual agency in network mobilization, for instance, how individual personality affects the extent to which organizational entrants and entrepreneurs leverage their personal networks to achieve effective adjustment and performance. Her work has been published at the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organization Science, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, and Journal of Management Studies. She currently serves on the Editorial Board of the Academy of Management Journal and Personnel Psychology.

She teaches Organisational Behaviour. Prior to joining UWA, she was an assistant professor at the National University of Singapore (Singapore). She earned her PhD. degree from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (United States).
