Dr Rui Hou is a bioinformatician at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research with a  PhD from the University of Western Australia, where his research focused on developing computational tools and analytical methods for studying cell-to-cell communication networks using single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data.

Dr Hou is the lead developer of scMatch, a widely used tool for annotating single-cell gene expression profiles with reference datasets (Bioinformatics, 2019), and NATMI (Network Analysis Toolkit for Multicellular Interactions), published in Nature Communications (2020). These tools are now broadly adopted by the bioinformatics community.

His recent publications include high-impact articles in Nature Communications, Bioinformatics, Cell, Cell Reports Medicine, The EMBO Journal, Advanced Science, Advanced Functional Materials, BMC Cancer, ACS Nano, and other prestigious journals, where he has made significant contributions to computational analyses.
