Biography

Rob Shannon is Associate Director for Innovation, within the Innovation and Industry Engagement team.

Rob joined UWA in November 2009 and was soon approached to help design and launch the UWA Innovation Quarter (UWA IQ). Since this time, he has worked in leadership roles to build strategic partnerships with industry and support researchers, students and staff to create and release the value of their innovations.  He is skilled at strategy, business development, marketing, supply chain, procurement and commercialisation.

Rob has extensive experience in industry, start-up and the University sector. He founded a business consultancy in the UK which disrupted traditional business models by working at the interface of industry and University -  recruiting graduates to apply cutting edge thinking from strategy to implementation.  The start-up, which spun out of Liverpool John Moores University, worked with 400+ clients in diverse sectors over 10 years. He was also was the youngest Chair of the Merseyside Branch of the Chartered Institute of Supply.

Rob enjoys a range of sporting pastimes including golf and triathlon, having achieved a lifetime time goal to compete in the Ironman World Championships in 2018.
