Biography

Larissa Wiese is the UWA International Space Centre's Deputy Director, delivering strategy, partnerships, government engagement and the public positioning of the University's space research facility. At UWA she leads national and international space engagement, working closely with government agencies, industry leaders, foreign and domestic space agencies and research institutions to grow the sector and strengthen UWA's space research capacity.  Riss has driven initiatives spanning Australia's human spaceflight program, international collaboration, and sovereign capability development, and regularly engages with senior government stakeholders, policy advisers and ministers.

From her thirty years experience in the media, she also drives the strategic storytelling and public narrative for the Centre, promoting UWA expert research capabilities as an economic driver and STEM catalyst; and is a trusted spokesperson across broadcast, print and digital media. In an operational capacity Riss supports cross-disciplinary teams across research translation, partnerships, communications and operations, aligning UWA's academic excellence with industry and government outcomes.
