Dr Rikki Brown is a passionate early career researcher dedicated to understanding the complexities of aggressive and poorly characterised cancers. She completed a Bachelor of Health Science at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2010, followed by a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours in 2012. After gaining valuable experience as a Research Officer contributing to multiple cancer research projects, Dr Brown completed her PhD in 2024 through the UWA Medical School.
Her doctoral research focused on the role of microRNA-7 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, particularly in the context of cisplatin resistance. She is now an established Research Associate in the Laboratory for Cancer Medicine, led by Professor Peter Leedman at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. Dr Brown’s research centres on the functional role of microRNAs in cancer biology and their therapeutic potential in cancers with poor prognosis.
Dr Brown has authored multiple peer-reviewed research articles and a book chapter, and remains committed to advancing RNA-based therapeutics toward clinical translation.
