Biography

Dr Ricky Chung is a Lecturer of Accounting and Finance at the UWA Business School.  He received his PhD in Accounting, MBA, MSc in Finance, Master of Laws, Master of Professional Accounting, and BSc.  Apart from his academic credentials, Ricky has earned professional designations in accounting, finance, financial planning, and risk management (Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), respectively).  Ricky has gained extensive experiences in the finance industry and academia for over 25 years.  He has been teaching both accounting and finance units at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and his current research interests are sustainability (ESG) reporting and assurance.  He has published in a number of accounting journals including Journal of Applied Accounting Research, Asian Review of Accounting, and China Journal of Accounting Research.  In service, he has served as ad hoc reviewers for Asian Review of Accounting, Business Strategy and the Environment, Finance Research Letters, Meditari Accountancy Research, and Pacific Accounting Review.  In terms of excellence in teaching, Ricky was nominated for the UWA Business School Excellence in Teaching Award in 2023 and 2024.  He also achieved the status of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in 2023 and Responsible Business Fellow in 2024.
