Biography

Rebecca is a Doctor of Education student in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Western Australia (UWA), where her research explores language policy with a particular emphasis on its philosophical and sociological underpinnings. 

She holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership (2023), a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English and Cultural Studies (2018), and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications & Media Studies and English & Cultural Studies (2017), all from UWA.

Her professional experience spans both Japan and Australia. In Japan, she worked as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) educator and later advanced to a corporate lead teaching role where she delivered language and professional development programs for major corporations and educational institutions across the Aichi, Gifu, and Mie prefectures. In Australia, she taught at a university pathways college where she supported international students with their transition to tertiary studies.

In 2024, she was awarded the Chapman-Aspin Prize in Educational Leadership by UWA and recognised by the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL WA) for Excellence and Leadership in Tertiary Studies.

Her doctoral research is supervised by Professor Tanya Fitzgerald and Dr. Ren-Hao Xu.
