Biography
Rachman Fauzi is pursuing a PhD in Geology at the University of Western Australia under the supervision of Prof Marco Fiorentini, Prof Tony Kemp, Dr Maria Cherdantseva, Dr Ria Mukherjee (the University of New England), and Dr Ernowo (the National Research and Innovation Agency of the Republic of Indonesia). His research aims to generate key insights into mineralising processes associated with a convergent margin by identifying the factors that control the distribution of potential Alaskan intrusion–related economic minerals and their relationships with adjacent mineral systems in the Meratus-Bobaris Complex, Southeast Borneo, Indonesia. The aim is to uncover significant factors and processes within the tectono-metallogenic framework that influence the distribution of economic minerals, particularly PGE mineralization. His work will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of exploration, as well as contribute to the understanding of tectonic and geodynamic processes leading to critical mineral deposition in a convergent margin.
In addition to his PhD, Rachman works at Research Center for Geological Resources, National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN). He has significant experience in the exploration of critical and strategic mineral in several regions in Indonesia.
Rachman holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia and Master of Geoscience from the School of Earth Sciences, the University of Western Australia. His master project focuses on characterization of PGE and sulfide mineralisation associated with chromite in layered mafic intrusion in the Windimurra and Narndee Igneous Complexes, WA.
