Personal profile

I am a PhD candidate pursuing doctoral degree in ‘Environmental Economics’ at the School of Agriculture and Environment, the University Western Australia. I have a Master’s degree in ‘Biodiversity and Environmental Management’ from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and the University of Bergen, Norway. The master’s degree is a NOMA (Norad’s programme for master studies) funded joint programme of the University of Bergen, Norway and Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Prior to joining UWA, I worked as a “Biodiversity Research Associate” at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD)- an intergovernmental organization that serves eight regional member countries of Hindu Kush Himalayas (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan). While working at ICIMOD, I was involved in various transboundary projects relating to biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services assessment, where I got opportunities to work with multidisciplinary teams in various countries in South Asia.

My research interests include application of impact evaluation techniques for policy evaluation, ecosystem services assessments and natural resources management. The topic of my PhD research is “Evaluating the Socio-economic Impacts of Protected Area Policy (Buffer Zone Policy) in Nepal.”
