Director
ATC carries out design lead research into timber products and structures using and developing knowledge of the unique qualities of Western Australian hardwoods and plantation timbers. Initial projects scheduled for commercialization by end 2009. ATC also carries out pure basic research into timber properties as required by the design program and industry needs.
2009 Awarded ‘Royalties for Regions’ Grant for development of timber manufacture and research capacity in WA wheat belt regions centered on town of Narrogin and the Cy O’Connor college of TAFE
2009 Awarded Royalties for Regions Grant (with Shire of Perenjori) for development of 4 bed prototype flat pack house to follow current prototypes models under construction.
2007 - 2009 Awarded FWPA grant for investigations into conditions required for application of direct stick timber flooring. ($53.000).
2007 - 2009 Awarded FWPA grant for investigations into the qualities of sapwood in various WA native and plantation species. ($58000).
2007 - 2008 Australian Timber Design Workshops: National Awareness and technical dissemination program to Industry and the professions. With A/Prof Greg Nolan of University of Tasmania. Conferences held in all major Australian cities with Grant support from FWPA.
2006 Appointed to the board of CEFFOR/Furniture Foresight Centre, Valencia, Spain.
2003 - 2004 Established Western Australia Urban Design. Joint venture between The University of Western Australia, Curtin University of technology and WA Government Department of Planning and Infrastructure. [Now UWA/DPI]
