Biography

Ornissa Naidoo is a registered Occupational Therapist and an academic with over 20 years experience. She has strong clinical experience over a range of areas, including hospital settings, schools and community settings.

She completed her research Masters in Obstetric Brachial Plexus Palsy in children, looking at their perceptual and physical skills. She has also completed other research, like looking into the role of OT in low back pain in emergency departments; as well as comparing the Mini Mental Status Examination with the Allan’s Cognitive Levels.

Ornissa is currently leading an international research project on the Kawa Model, an occupational therapy model that uses a river as a metaphor of life. It is hoped that the findings deepen our understanding on how the Model is translated and perceived by occupational therapy students across different communities.

She is also currently leading a Kindergarten play-based prewriting skills program across two Primary Schools in the Pilbara, WA.

Ornissa has a broad range of interests ranging from student learning, evidence based practice, pre writing skills, falls prevention - naming a few.
