Mr Nishant Agarwal is currently a Lecturer of Accounting in the Accounting and Finance discipline of the UWA Business School. Nishant completed his doctoral studies in Accounting in June 2018 from the Indian School of Business (ISB), India. His other qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering and MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, a business school that ranks among the top 3 in India. Before his PhD, Nishant was teaching at India’s largest private university (Amity University) as an Assistant Professor in Finance and Accounting. He also has 9 years of industry experience in a variety of areas such as risk management and strategy among others.
Nishant has published papers in A* and A journals such as JMAR, MAR, EAR and PBFJ, and has papers under revision at journals such as CAR and BAR.
Research Interests: Nishant's research focusses on both management accounting and financial accounting. Within management accounting, the key area of interest is cost behavior, with the focus on both the determinants of and the capital market consequences of cost behavior. Within financial accounting, Nishant's focus is on textual disclosures and their influence on information environment of the firm.
Teaching: Nishant is skilled in teaching management and financial accounting. He has been teaching Accounting for Planning and Control (ACCT5633) and Financial Statement Analysis (ACCT3302) for the last five years.
