Biography

Nikki Schönfeldt is the Associate Director Teaching and Teaching Innovation and a Senior Lecturer of Accounting at the University of Western Australia’s Business School. She is a Chartered Accountant with twenty years’ experience in university teaching. Nikki is a recipient of a 2023 AAUT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. Nikki has published in top disciplinary journals and was awarded the ECR Accounting Education best paper award at the 2023 AFAANZ conference. Nikki is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is passionate about the accounting profession. In addition to her AAUT Citation, Nikki has recently received other national teaching awards, including the MYOB 2022 Educator of the Year and the Accountants Daily 2023 Accounting Academic of the Year. Her teaching philosophy is to ‘never leave a room empty-handed’. This means designing learning activities that teach disciplinary content as well as purposefully develop appropriate behavioural competencies.
