Biography

Nick graduated from a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours from the University of Western Australia. After completing Basic Physician Training at Fiona Stanley Hospital, he gained further clinical experience as a Registrar in the Intensive Care Unit and education experience as a Senior Medical Education Registrar at Royal Perth Hospital. He is currently a final year Cardiology Advanced Trainee within WA Health.

 

Nick has an interest in preventive Cardiology, having undertaken a Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology and Diabetes with a focus on Cardiometabolic medicine and is currently a Senior Registrar in the Cardiometabolic clinic at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He has completed a Master of Science in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine as well as the Foundations of Cardiometabolic Health Certification Course, obtaining the credential of Certified Cardiometabolic Health Provider. He is developing skills in cardiac imaging, having completed a Master of Clinical Ultrasound from the University of Melbourne, and having passed the American National Board of Echocardiography certification exam.

 

Nick is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia and is actively involved in teaching, quality improvement and research. He has completed a Master of Clinical Research with Distinction from the University of Western Australia with a thesis titled “Quantitating the biological variation of cardiac troponin in health and disease states to optimise the diagnosis of myocardial injury” and was a recipient of the WA Health Research Fellowship. He has published a book chapter on lipid care in diabetes mellitus and over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles.
