Personal profile

Biography

As a BSW graduate of UWA in 1998, my practice experience spans over 20 years, nationally and internationally.  As a new graduate, foundational practice experience was gained in child protection prior to working with young people living with cancer.  Working with humanitarian and refugee organisations enhanced my appreciation for trauma informed practice and ignited my passion to advocate for the rights of those seeking asylum.  My experience in Field Education commenced when employed with Curtin University in 2011.

In 2016, I accepted a two year volunteer assignment with a social work college in Kathmandu, Nepal.   Whilst in country, I facilitated Australian social work student 'study trips' and supervised students placed with local organisations.

On return to Australia in 2018, I returned to working in Field Education, commencing with UWA late 2021.  I continue to feel inspired when witnessing the growth of students on placement.  I also value the contribution Industry Partners make to the future of our profession.
