Biography

Dr. Mohammed El-Hakim is an experienced clinical practice educator at the UWA Dental School, where he leverages over 20 years of clinical practice in general dental practice and restorative dentistry to enhance student learning and patient care. He holds a master's degree in counseling (psychotherapy), which enhances his communication with students, providing them support and allowing him to teach patient-centered care and patient communication to clinicians. He works across multiple organizations in the dental field, including the RACDS, where he is a lead item writer and examiner for postgraduate dental programs, an AHPRA panel member, a board member for the ADA WA, and serves on numerous dental organization committees.

Dr. El-Hakim has extensive experience in curriculum and assessment development, running dental simulations, and content development, particularly in teaching operative and restorative dentistry. He is renowned for his innovative teaching methods, including the development of practical skills assessments and OSCE items, and his leadership in curriculum review and content development, contributing significantly to the enhancement of dental education.
