Biography

Dr Mirko Sardelic is a historian of medieval and early modern cross-cultural exchange, especially between the Mediterranean world and Eurasian steppe. He is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Historical Research of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Zagreb), and also an Honorary Research Fellow at the Centre for the History of Emotions at the University of Western Australia (2021-2024). Very much interested in the history of emotions, he is Co-Director of the Centre for the Study of Emotions in Cross-Cultural Exchange, based in Croatia. In 2023 he became a Connecting Art History Scholar at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles and an Associate of the UCLA CMRS Center for Early Global Studies.
