Michael Kriele received his BSc degree in Creative Technology from the University of Twente, The Netherlands, in 2014. Following his bachelor’s, he proceeded with a double-degree master’s program at the same university, in electrical engineering and computer science, during which he spent six months at the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy (Curtin University, Australia) as an RF-engineer for his internship. In January 2018 he obtained both a MSc degree in electrical engineering and a MSc degree in computer science simultaneously, specialising in telecommunication engineering and wireless sensor systems/design and analysis of communication systems respectively. In December 2022 he obtained a Doctorate from Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands as part of a joint-PhD appointment with Curtin University, Australia, whilst also being part of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for All Sky Astrophysics in Three Dimensions (ASTRO3D). In September 2023 he was also awarded a Doctorate degree from Curtin University. The topic of his joint-PhD research was "High Precision Mapping of the Diffuse Low-frequency Sky using Spherical Harmonic Transit Interferometry". From May 2022, Michael directly continued his career as post-doctoral research associate and senior research engineer as part of the Astrophotonics group at the University of Western Australia, working on implementation of a high-precision phase synchronisation system for use by the Mid-Frequency Square Kilometre Array situated in South Africa. Since 2024, Michael continued his work as Research Fellow for the UWA SKA Synchronisation and Timing Team as Project Lead.
