Biography

Michelle is the Curriculum Strategy and Educational Innovation Lead for Nursing at The University of Western Australia. She leads the design of innovative, student-centred curricula that prepare future nurses for the complexity and unpredictability of modern healthcare. Her work spans curriculum transformation, digital learning, academic leadership, and inclusive education - particularly for students from regional, remote, and equity backgrounds.

Michelle's research focuses on programmatic assessment, feedback literacy, and the role of technology in supporting learning. She is especially interested in how well-designed feedback systems can build students’ agency, deepen their engagement, and support the development of a strong professional identity. She also works closely with teaching teams to strengthen feedback practices and create learning environments that are rich in dialogue and growth.

A Senior Fellow of Advance HE, Michelle has led large-scale change projects across curriculum and the student experience. In 2018, she received the Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Award for Contribution to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Advancement at Edith Cowan University, for co-developing a culturally safe postgraduate nursing unit in partnership with Aboriginal communities, work that continues to shape her approach to curriculum design today.
