Research
As part of my PhD Research, I am undertaking a broad-spectrum investigation into the mechanistics of PPR-DYW-catalysed RNA editing. This involves the establishment and optimisation of a method to construct custom synthetic PPR proteins and an in vitro assay by which their editing efficacy may be measured.
Future research may include the biophysical characterisation of the unelucidated DYW domain (the enzymatic C-terminus of some PPR proteins), with the hope to discovery how exactly it catalyses the deamination of cytidine to uridine.
