Biography
Md Rony Golder is a Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia with expertise in ocean colour remote sensing, marine biogeochemistry, environmental modelling, and geospatial data science. His PhD focused on long-term phytoplankton dynamics in the Southern Ocean using Earth observation data from satellites. His research integrates satellite Earth observation, in situ observations, and numerical models to improve the understanding and management of coastal and marine ecosystems. His work focuses on water quality assessment, numerical model validation (TUFLOW FV/AED), Earth observation, phytoplankton ecology, GIS and spatial analysis, and the application of machine learning to environmental science. He has contributed to multidisciplinary research through collaborations with Curtin University, CSIRO, Université de Brest (France), WAMSI, and BMT, supporting projects in coastal and marine environmental monitoring, modelling, and evidence-based decision-making. Outside of research, Rony enjoys watching movies, playing badminton and chess, travelling, and developing open-access scientific tools and educational resources.
