Biography

Maria received her B.Sc (2013) and M.Sc. (2015) from the Novosibirsk State University. Her research project has been dedicated to the study of compositions of base metal sulfides, precious metal and platinum group minerals in Cu-Ni-PGE deposits. In particular, she investigated the distribution patterns of trace elements in sulfide droplets from gabbroid intrusions in Mongolia and Kazakhstan. Moreover, Maria has been the president of The SGA Siberian Student Chapter for 5 years; she organized several student field trips to different mineral deposits in Russia. Upon graduation, Maria took an opportunity to work in the industry and got a position as an exploration geologist at Ltd “Norilskgeologia” (a subsidiary of Ltd “Norilsk Nickel”, Saint Petersburg, Russia). Her work in the mining company was focused on the management of exploration and research projects on Cu-porphyry deposits in the Russian Far East. Thus, Maria’s research interests lie in the study of magmatic petrology, mineralogy, ore geology, and field geology.

Maria joined the CET in November 2019. She is working on revealing the mystery of the cryptic role of volatiles in orthomagmatic systems. The study will document the different textures, minero-chemical variability, petrographical, morphological properties, and isotopic signatures of volatile-bearing phases associated with magmatic mineralisation in several selected natural laboratories crystallised at different lithospheric levels.
