Biography
Mariam Al-Essa is a diabetes specialist podiatrist, committed to delivering essential care to high-risk diabetic foot patients within the Ministry of Health in Kuwait. Simultaneously, she is a versatile professional, actively engaged in pursuing a PhD and serving as a part-time lecturer at UWA. Her qualifications encompass membership in the Royal College of Podiatry, UK, and a role as a research scholar at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Mariam is wholeheartedly dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals grappling with diabetic foot disease, driven by her passion for advancing the field of podiatric medicine and surgery.

A research scholar at the Department of Vascular Surgery, Heart & Vascular Institute, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Dedicated to exploring the complexities of Diabetic Foot Disease (DFD) within GCC countries. Her work focuses on addressing critical knowledge gaps surrounding DFD, aiming to yield transformative insights for diabetic patient care. She will lead the development of a comprehensive dataset tailored for local and regional analysis, with the goal of shaping improved DFD management strategies in the GCC region. Her research efforts extend to evaluating the impact of multidisciplinary teams on crucial outcomes like lower limb amputation, advocating for advanced, collaborative care models. Her ultimate aim is to enhance DFD care accessibility and close existing gaps in diabetes management, contributing to optimal patient well-being.
