Personal profile

Biography

I completed my Bachelor and Masters in Clinical Psychology in Iran, where I researched cognitive biases in chronic pain and PTSD. In 2018, I moved to Australia to continue my research on cognition and emotion as a PhD student at the Centre for the Advancement of Research on Emotion (CARE) under the supervision of Professor Colin MacLeod. Currently, I am a research fellow at CARE, leading several projects that focus on cognitive mechanisms of emotional well-being, such as cognitive processes involved in different types of worry.

2018 - 2022     Doctor of Philosophy – Psychology, University of  Western Australia

2013 - 2016      M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology, University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, Tehran

2009 - 2013      B.S. in Clinical Psychology, Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran

Current projects

Currently, I am leading two international collaborative projects involving five researchers from leading institutes in Australia (UNSW, Black Dog Institute), the UK (Uni of Exeter), and the USA (Uni of Pennsylvania). These projects aim to identify which worries and expectancies compromise new parents' emotional well-being and which do not, to enhance perinatal mental health. My other project involves developing novel methods for the assessment and modification of cognitive biases. My latest contribution to this field is a novel task for the assessment and modification of biased attention that leverages AI platforms and can be used as is or easily adapted by others to address specific research questions across various contexts, languages, and cultures.
