Personal profile

Biography

I completed my bachelor and master courses in clinical psychology in Iran and worked on the role of attentional bias in chronic pain and PTSD for my research projects. Then I moved to Australia to continue my research on cognitive mechanisms of social anxiety as a PhD student at the Centre for the Advancement of Research on Emotion (CARE) under the supervision of Professor Colin MacLeod and Dr. Ben Grafton. Currently, I am a research fellow at CARE working on several projects that focus on enhancing the effectiveness of a new generation of health-promoting technologies, collectively known as cognitive bias modification.

2018 - 2022     Doctor of Philosophy – Psychology, University of  Western Australia

2013 - 2016      M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology, University of social welfare and rehabilitation sciences, Tehran

2009 - 2013      B.S. in Clinical Psychology, Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran

Current projects

Currently I am leading a collaborative project that will identify appropriate neuro-cognitive targets for cognitive digital health programs designed to enhance perinatal mental health in Australian women. The other project I work on focuses on improving multidisciplinary treatments for children and adolescents with chronic pain through identifying adaptive and maladaptive cognitions as predictors of the treatment efficacy. I also work on developing novel methods for the assessment and modificaiton of anxiety-linked attentional processes.
