Personal profile

I am a physical oceanographer with a background in fluid dynamics and a passion for applying it to fundamental aspects of ocean research. I use high-resolution modelling techniques to quantify the effects of small-scale turbulence on large-scale ocean and climate phenomena, such as ice shelf basal melting, boundary layer processes and the vertical transport of heat within the ocean. The aim of my research is to reduce uncertainty in predictions of future climate and sea level though accurate representation of these turbulent processes in ocean models.

My research interests include:

  • Ice-ocean interactions
  • Ocean bottom boundary layer dynamics
  • Ocean mixing parameterisation
  • Large-eddy simulation
