Personal profile

Biography

I am a qualified chartered accountant who is passionate about teaching and research. Currently, I lecture financial accounting at the UWA Business School, being the unit coordinator for the third level financial accounting unit (Financial Accounting: Theory and Practice) on undergraduate and postgraduate programs. My roles include being the B.Com (Accounting major) Program Coordinator and a member of the UWA Business School Education Committee. External roles include being the university representative on the SCSA Years 11-12 Accounting and Finance Curriculum Advisory Committee.  Prior to joining UWA in February 2015, I had the opportunity to engage in full-time PhD studies at the UWA Business School, having been awarded an Australian Postgraduate Award and UWA Top-up scholarship. Before UWA, I lectured at the University of Cape Town in management accounting (9 years) and was an auditor at KPMG Cape Town (3 years).

My academic background is diverse, with degrees in Accounting and Mathematical Statistics, Honours degree (first class) in Economics, research Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management and PhD in Accounting, which equips me for research and teaching. My research interests include corporate disclosures and performance indicators; in particular the interface between corporate reporting versus practice in the sustainability area. I have published in journals such as Accounting, Auditing and Accountability, Accounting & Finance, Accounting Research Journal and Industrial Marketing Management.
