Personal profile

Biography

I am an applied sociologist with expertise in mixed-methods research and data analysis, social network analysis, and participatory and action research. 2015 I have been a certified trainer for MAXQDA – qualitative and mixed-methods data analysis software with ten years of qualitative and quantitative data analysis and training workshops delivered to research teams, non for profit and corporate entities.

I translate insights from my academic research in support networks, ageing and aged care, STS, diversity and migration into co-designing of community-based interventions. For example, since 2017, I have been developing social technology tools: SPARK and BeKind apps supporting vulnerable groups through ‘small-acts of kindness’/social favours, and skills exchange marketplace, increasing employability and social integration. These apps were co-designed with target groups: older migrants, people living with disabilities, LGBTIQ+, and living in rural/remote areas in Australia.

Certified Design Thinking facilitator and evaluator of social innovation and community interventions, evidence-based user-centred service & product designer with aged care, migration, queer and LGBTIQ+, refugees & asylum-seekers, and community engagement expertise. I am passionate about design-based research, participatory and impact evaluation, and co-designing relationship-focused initiatives and community activation strategies that enhance the meaningful engagement of vulnerable groups, reducing social isolation and promoting empathy, mutual learning, and understanding.
