Personal profile

Biography

I have worked as a UWA Librarian since 2011, supporting information access and research skills development across the science, health, medical, and humanities disciplines. I have qualifications and experience in both information access and management and education.

As a librarian working in the university sector, I work collaboratively with academics to identify the research skills and information resources students will need to support their learning and achieve specific assessment outcomes.

Prior to joining UWA I worked for the State and Public Library sectors in Community Development roles supporting the development of community literacy outreach programs and events.

Roles and responsibilities

UWA Engagement Librarian within the Student Learning Team with specific responsibility to support the teaching and learning needs of university staff and students.

Support may include, for example:

  • Assisting Academics to incorporate UWA Library resources and information literacy skill development into their course program;
  • Providing information literacy and research support to students and researchers;
  • Promoting the range of library services, information and systems available to support research and teaching at UWA.

Research

My Masters Thesis aims to explore how different views of ‘why’ inquiry and research are being integrated into teaching impacts curriculum design decisions.

In addition, this research is interested in how discourses about the research-teaching nexus within universities intersect with research integration approaches and ideas about the social purpose of a university
