Lloyd White

Lloyd is an award-winning communicator, leader, and analyst and has developed these skills through his constructively aligned teaching, research, and leadership roles.

Doctor Lloyd White obtained his PhD in 2009 in the School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology at the University of Western Australia and held postdoctoral positions at Deakin University and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute developing gene therapies to explore and treat skeletal muscle wasting. He was an Associate Lecturer at the University of Melbourne before joining the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Microbiology at La Trobe University as a Lecturer in Anatomy in 2013 where he excelled in his role as a teaching and research academic.

Lloyd moved to Perth in late 2020 due to family reasons, relinquished tenure, and now holds a 0.5FT contract in the School of Biomedical Sciences at UWA. He is developing and coordinating a new Body Systems module for 3rd year students in the Doctor of Medical Dentistry and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. This module explores the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the systems of the human body.

Lloyd takes a lifelong learning approach and seeks to learn something knew from every teaching and research interaction. His research focuses on the incorporation of novel pedagogical practices to drive student engagement, learning, and enjoyment. He has project managed several curriculum redesigns, introduced a blended learning format to anatomy units, and responded postiively to the challenges and opportunities of COVID-19. Throughout, he has strived to create an authentic and engaging learning experience by providing clear and respectful communication that supports and spotlights the wellbeing of all stakeholders.

Lloyd is also a sessional demonstrator at Curtin University.
