Leticia Algarves Miranda undergraduate dental degree was obtained from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in 1995. While practicing in a private setting, she undertook a specialty course in Periodontology (1998) and Masters in Dental Clinics with focus on Periodontology at the same University (1999). Subsequently, she completed a PhD in Periodontology at Rio de Janeiro State University (2003), Brazil and a PhD in Medicine at Karolinska Institutet (2007), Sweden.
Since her graduation, A/P Leticia Miranda has been involved with teaching undergraduate and graduate students as well as with research in the areas of Periodontology and Histology. After two temporary appointments at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Dental Materials and Periodontology), she worked in a specialization course in Periodontology at Sao Leopoldo Mandic University - Campus Porto Alegre, as Associate Professor of Periodontology at Santa Cruz University, Brazil, and later, she was part of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul team at the Biosciences Faculty.

For almost 10 years, Leticia has experencied teaching Periodontology (theoretical and clinical lectures) and foundational sciences (Immunology, Histology, Embryology) for dental and other health related professions students of undergrad and graduation levels at Pontifical Catholic University - PUCRS, Santa Cruz University and Sao Leopoldo Mandic University, campus Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Leticia's broad research interests are oral immunology/inflammation and connective tissue and bone biology. She has two great passions: biomedical research in general and practicing clinical Periodontology and she tries to merge these two passions through studies on the etiopathogenesis and the treatment of periodontal and perimplantar diseases and their sequelae.
