Biography

Dr Lee Nedkoff is a Senior Research Fellow in cardiovascular disease epidemiology. She is Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Research Centre in the School of Population and Global Health, and heads the Cardiology Population Health laboratory at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, based at the Institute's UWA Hub.

Dr Nedkoff has just been awarded a 2025 National Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship (Level 2, 2025-2028). Her program will investigate new methods for monitoring cardiovascular disease, including algorithms and standardised approaches for conditions like chronic coronary disease and cardiomyopathies and will contribute to development of a comprehensive system for monitoring CVD conditions, with a focus on equity and accessibility.

Dr Nedkoff undertook her PhD at UWA investigating the epidemiology of coronary heart disease in people with diabetes, for which she was awarded the CAPHIA PhD Excellence in Public Health Award in 2016. She has previously held an NHMRC Early Career Fellowship and has been awarded over $11 million in grant and research funding.

Dr Nedkoff leads a research program focused on population-based studies measuring the burden of cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, stroke, peripheral arterial disease and atrial fibrillation. She has expertise in the use of multi-jurisdictional linked health data in cardiovascular epidemiological studies. She has published over 70 research articles on CVD and stroke epidemiology and surveillance. A focus of her research is age-and sex-specific trends in acute coronary syndromes, and development of robust methods and analytic approaches for using linked data in cardiovascular disease research.
