Lakshmi Nagarajan is a Child Neurologist / Epileptologist from Perth Children’s Hospital, Australia. Dr Nagarajan directs the Child and Adolescent Epilepsy Program in Western Australia. Lakshmi is a Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Western Australia.
Prof Nagarajan has trained and worked in India, Australia, USA and Canada. Dr. Nagarajan is keen on promoting high quality care for children with neurological disorders across the world. Lakshmi is active in educational programs in Australia and internationally through the ICNA and ILAE. She has supervised and mentored several Paediatric and Child Neurology trainees in Australia.
She is currently an Executive Board member of the International Child Neurology Association ICNA (2104 onwards), and is involved with many of the activities of ICNA. She chairs the International Review of Child Neurology series committee in ICNA. Lakshmi is the national delegate to AOCNA from Australia. Prof Nagarajan was previously on the ANZCNS board, and a Vice President of the Epilepsy Society of Australia. She was the HOD, Neurology at the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, Perth, from 2006-2016. She has contributed and participated in several committees and advisory boards relating to epilepsy, child neurology, cerebral palsy, at the Children’s Hospital in Perth, as well as nationally and globally.
Lakshmi’s main research interests are in Neonatal Neurology, Epilepsy and Neurophysiology. Prof Nagarajan is a full time clinician who has published >60 articles in peer reviewed journals. She is the editor of a book on Neonatal Seizures, (IRCN, published by Mac Keith Press, 2016). Prof Nagarajan is on the ILAE task force to develop international guidelines for Treatment of Neonatal Seizures. Lakshmi is a reviewer for several peer reviewed national and international journals and has been a recipient of grants from NHMRC, Australia, AMA, RCH Foundation, QLD, Perth Children’s Hospital foundation. Lakshmi has been the principal investigator in several Clinical Research studies. She has been an invited speaker at several national and international conferences in Neurology and Epilepsy.
Prof Nagarajan has friends, colleagues, mentors and collaborators in Australia and many other parts of the world - she enjoys interacting, learning and promoting child neurology and neuroscience.
