Biography
Khairul Shah Nizamuddin is a PhD student at the School of Population and Global Health, University of Western Australia, where his research evaluates the effectiveness of self-testing kit programs among international and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) students. He is actively engaged with the WA AIDS Council (WAAC), contributing to health promotion initiatives focused on HIV and STI education, as well as chemsex awareness. Prior to his postgraduate studies in Australia, Khairul led and contributed to numerous community-based programs through the Insaf Murni Association of Malaysia, supporting People Who Use Drugs (PWUD)—particularly women and youth—in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia. His work spans digital advocacy, legal empowerment, capacity building, and participatory research, with a strong focus on addressing stigma, HIV risk, gender-based violence, and the criminalisation of drug use.
