Biography
Kate Pikor is a dedicated social worker with a diverse background spanning child protection, nonprofit, and adult education sectors. Currently serving as the Field Education Coordinator at UWA, she brings a wealth of experience in coordinating student placements, fostering partnerships with community agencies, and aligning educational programs with industry standards. Prior to joining UWA in 2024, Kate managed social work placements and taught child protection practices at another university. Her career also includes valuable international experience, having worked in London, where she provided case management and conducted comprehensive assessments for children in need. With a foundation in trauma-informed care, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and policy compliance, Kate is committed to supporting students and advancing the field of social work education.

Kate’s teaching philosophy is rooted in a strengths-based approach, emphasising the importance of equity and creating an inclusive environment where each student feels valued. She believes in integrating insights from frontline practitioners to ensure practical relevance and aims to stay up-to-date with current practices to provide students with the most relevant knowledge and skills.
