Biography

Kate Carter is a Senior Lecturer on the Podiatric Medicine course at the University of Western Australia. She is an experienced podiatrist with an extended scope of practice including clinical training in rheumatology, diagnostic ultrasound imaging and gait analysis. She has worked as a clinical specialist podiatrist in multidisciplinary rheumatology teams in Singapore and Australia. Kate gained an international research scholarship award at Western Sydney University in 2017 and has several publications in the field of rheumatology that focus on understanding the foot disease burden in Psoriatic Arthritis from a patient and multidisciplinary perspective.

Kate has experience in academic teaching at the University of Brighton (UK) and Western Sydney University (Australia), with management of under-graduate and post-graduate modules aligned with her subject area, as well as wider contribution to inter-disciplinary units. Kate gained her post-graduate teaching certificate in 2011 and was nominated for a teaching excellence award during that time. Kate is part of a collaborative professional network of clinical academics, creating international research opportunities and serving to build research capacity and training for podiatrists in rheumatology.
