Biography

PhD University of Bordeaux (Fr), December 2009 (Marine sedimentology)
MSc University of Bordeaux (Fr), 2006 (Oceanography, Environment, Sedimentology, Paleo-oceanography)
BSc University of Lyon (Fr), 2004 (Geology, Paleontology, Sedimentology)

Roles and responsibilities

Since 2019 I am a senior sedimentologist and stratigrapher at TOTAL E&P, and an Adjunct Research Fellow at the School of Earth Sciences.

In my previous role at UWA I was the past coordinator of the Master of Petroleum Geoscience (MSc) and the Assistant Director of the Centre for Energy Geoscience.

Future research

My research interests include sedimentary basin evolution, sedimentary processes and sequence stratigraphy in marginal (shallow marine) to deep-marine environments.

Previous positions

Senior Lecturer, School of Earth Sciences, UWA (2015-2018)

Lecturer, School of Earth Sciences, UWA (2011-2015)

Post-doctoral fellow, Australian School of Petroleum, The University of Adelaide (2010-2011).

Teaching overview

No current teaching activities.

Past activities:

Unit Coordinator:

GEOS4412 (Petroleum Systems) & GEOS5503 (Petroleum Resources).

These units aim to develop skills relevant to petroleum exploration and production. These units are especially valuable to students actively seeking employment in the energy sector after graduation.

I teach Sequence Stratigraphy and 2D/3D Seismic Stratigraphy courses in these units.

Other teaching:

EART1104 - Introduction to Geology (year 1). Teaching: Principles of Sedimentary Geology, Igneous and metamorphic petrology (labs), Geological mapping (labs), field work:
https://units.handbooks.uwa.edu.au/units/eart/eart1104

EART3337 Coastal Environments (year 3). Teaching: Coastal and shallow-marine Sedimentology. https://units.handbooks.uwa.edu.au/units/eart/eart3337

SCIE3304 Field Techniques in Marine Science (year 3). Boat-based Sedimentology Course.

Research

Expertise in sedimentology, sequence and seismic stratigraphy, basin analysis, 3D seismic stratigraphy and seismic geomorphology.

My research interests include:

- 3D seismic geomorphology and sequence/sesimic stratigraphy

- Deep water sedimentology and their petroleum reservoir properties: turbiditic processes, turbiditic sandstone reservoirs in channels and lobes, subtle / stratigraphic traps

- Stratigraphic architecture of continental slope and basin deposits, platform-basin linkages (clastic and carbonate systems)

- Tectono-stratigraphic evolution of sedimentary basins including Australia's North West Shelf

- Carbonate margins and slopes, calciturbidites

- Characterization of siliciclastic shallow marine reservoirs using integrated datasets, depositional analogues
