Biography

Dr. Julie Brose is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science. Her research experience includes qualitative research in health and social care settings, working with vulnerable populations from infants to older adults, public health, palliative care, neurodegenerative disorders, and maximising resilience and function during times of transition.

She is passionate about working alongside communities to co-create high quality research and effective knowledge translation, optimising the intersection between research, everyday life, policy and clinical practice. Julie's goal is to improve the quality of life for all people through research, education, and research-informed clinical practice.

Julie completed her PhD at the Research Centre for Palliative Care, Death and Dying at Flinders University and was the recipient of the Vice Chancellors Award for Doctoral Thesis Excellence. Her research was a prospective, longitudinal study with working-aged adults living with advanced cancer, looking at the lived experience of everyday life and the process of adaptation amid functional decline.

She previously worked as a senior research associate at the University of Bristol (UK). She teaches sessionally at the University of Alberta (Canada). Julie has over 20 years of clinical experience in hospital, outpatient, hospice, home and community settings in Australia, Canada, and China. She is an AHPRA and HCPC-registered occupational therapist and co-chair of the European Association for Palliative Care Taskforce on Rehabilitative Palliative Care.
