Biography

Julia is an oceanographer with over 15 years of experience leading R&D for universities, technology companies and foundations, including The Ocean Cleanup, the Australian Institute of Marine Science, and Minderoo Foundation.

Julia is now a Research Fellow at the UWA Oceans Institute, and co-founder of ULUU: a start-up set to replace fossil plastics with natural materials derived from seaweed, seawater, and 'salt loving' microbes. She also holds a doctorate in plastic pollution, and is completing her MBA at UWA.
