Biography

Prof Finn is the Director of the Preshospital, Resuscitation and Emergency Care Research Unit (PRECRU) at Curtin University. Judith has a strong track record in resuscitation research and a long affiliation with the Internatioanl Liaison Committee on resuscitation (ILCOR). Judith was the inaugural Director of the Australian Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium (Aus-ROC) – a NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence (Australia) in 2012-2017;  based in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University, in Melbourne (Victoria). 

Prior to moving to Curtin University in 2013, Judith was employed as a Research Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at UWA. 
Previously (2007-2010) Judith was the inaugural Chair of Nursing Research at UWA, in conjunction with Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Director of Postgraduate Studies / Deputy Head of School within the UWA School of Population Health (2004-2007).

Judith is a critical care registered nurse and midwife who worked as a nurse academic in Adelaide (Uni SA and Flinders Uni) and Townsville (JCU) prior to moving to Perth to live in 1994. Judith completed a PhD in epidemiology at UWA in 2002, using WA ambulance data linked to WA hospital and death records. In addition to a PhD (UWA) Judith also holds degrees in Science (BSc(Adel): majoring in Zoology and Psychology); Education (MEdStudies(Adel); Public Health (GradDipPH(Adel)); and Nursing (DipAppSc(Nsg); RN; RM and Intensive Care Nursing Certificate)
