Dr. Jonathan Ravn Karlsen is a Lecturer of Finance in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the UWA Business School. Jonathan is a research fellow at the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Center (DFCRC) and previously held research positions at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Digital Currency Cooperative Research Center.
He holds a PhD of Finance from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), a Masters of Applied Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School (CBS), and a Bachelor of Economics and Business Administrations (CBS).
Jonathan’s research focuses on digital finance with an emphasis on how blockchain technology propagates illicit activity including darknet markets, ransomware attacks, and money laundering. His research interests also include several aspects of financial markets – market integrity and financial misconduct including market manipulation and insider trading. He is published in the Review of Financial Studies:
