Mr Sarmiento is a PhD Candidate at the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment. He is an Agricultural and Applied Economist specialising in agricultural value chains, conservation agriculture economics, behavioural economics, and risk management. Jon has been involved in research and consultancy projects in Australia, Bangladesh, India, Lao PDR, Nepal, and the Philippines funded by ACIAR, GRDC, and ADB.  Prior to joining UWA, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines Mindanao.
