Biography

John is a health researcher who began his career as a medical practitioner, gaining experience predominantly in acute hospital care and later in clinical trials. His research has focussed on the quality and equity of health services provision for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, particularly in relation to palliative care (the topic of his UWA PhD) and cardiovascular disease. His skills include quantitative analytic methods and systematic reviews. Recently, his involvement in research projects has extended to the topics of (i) family and domestic violence (of which he has childhood lived experience) and (ii) rural education of health professionals.
